#1 The disciples began to quote Psalm 110, which described the coronation of a king, and Psalm 8, which explained the wonders of creation, to the pilgrims. They explained that Jesus had been raised to a glorious life in the heavenly world, fulfilling the prophecy in Psalm 8 that the Lord would raise up a king for his people.

#2 The titles lord, son of man, and son of God were often used interchangeably by New Testament authors to describe Jesus, the Messiah, the Christ. They were often attributed to Jesus by Greek-speaking Jews from the diaspora, who were attracted to his message of justice and equality.

#3 The Greek-speaking Jews who joined the Jesus movement continued to pray in their own synagogues, but tension broke out between the Aramaic-speaking and Greek-speaking members. It began as a disagreement about the distribution of the food, which the Twelve resolved by appointing seven Greek-speaking deacons to apportion rations to the community.

#4 The story of Stephen and the Jewish temple is a prime example of how trivial disagreements can quickly escalate into violence in the Bible.
