While doing a favor for Dr. Albright, Dick sprains his ankle and discovers the power of guilt. Harry, desiring his own room, moves into a tree house. Meanwhile, Tommy uses Sally to sell chocolate for a school fundraiser.

When Sally, Harry and Tommy barely miss being hit by a falling chandelier at a local restaurant, they feel as if their near-death experience has made them view the world in a whole new way. They look at everything with wonder and amazement as if they're seeing things for the very first time.

Dick frantically tries to deflect Mary's suspicions by suggesting that they elope. A puzzled Mary says that is not really possible at the moment and a disgusted Nina says Dick should tell Mary what's really going on. When Janet arrives in Rutherford, Mary demands an explanation.

Dick, Mary, Harry and Sally walk in the park. A magician entertains children at a nearby party. When the magician asks for an assistant, Dick volunteers and he's immediately swept away by the attention and applause.

Dick had always thought that students rested during the break but his class quickly sets him straight. Mary shows Dick a brochure for "The Bed and Breakfast on Sterling Lake" where she spent many happy summers with her family as a young girl. Dick suggests that they go and recapture her youth.
