Skye Macdonald, the daughter of Breathcatcher, a Lakota woman, and Gregory Macdonald, a Scottish trapper, is taken to live with the Standing People after her mother's death, where she begins to learn the physical and spiritual lessons that will lead her to fulfill her destiny as a warrior woman.
