The brutal clearing of a local slum reveals an indecipherable murder scene and an unreliable witness. As Reid closes in on the killer, it becomes clear that the condemned slum is home to dark secrets that someone is desperate to protect.

The Body Farm team are called in to investigate the death of prominent human rights lawyer Richard Warner. He died in a fire at his home but it is not clear if the fire was set deliberately, so the team analyse the severely burned body without knowing the cause of the fire.

The team discover the body of Jason, a young male prostitute, dumped in the estate of wealthy businessman, Harold Penton. Evidence suggests that someone had sex with Jason shortly before his death, but the exact cause is difficult to identify as he had a host of diseases.

The team are called to look at the death of Ray Quinn, who was killed in what looks like a robbery at a Classic Car garage. The owners, Mick and Martin Flannery, are keen to clear the scene so that they can open for business again, but after an initial investigation, Eve is convinced that there is more to the case than a robbery gone wrong.

Boyd is finding it hard to find a replacement for Mel and so, in the meantime, DS Andrea Stephenson is drafted into the team.

Grace is called to give evidence at the appeal of Tony Green, whose arrest and conviction thirty years earlier was her first case.

Ex-cop Eddie Vine mysteriously invites Boyd to visit him in prison, where he is serving life for murdering his partner and best friend, Tom Pallisser.

The team are finding it extremely hard to come to terms with Mel's death, and finding a replacement is proving to be a heartbreaking challenge.
